THE CITY'S TOUGH economy continues to leave many cash-strapped New Yorkers struggling to care for their pets. Thousands of stray and unwanted cats and dogs are being abandoned at shelters because their owners can't afford to take care of them.
I am as broke as I have ever been, but I would never abandon my doggy. He eats before I do.
